I find it interesting and paradoxal that a piece put out by a Quaker group mentions using the ‘rod’ with children, considering Quakers have a long history of non-violence. How can they consider themselves non-violent if they advocate violence against the most innocent?
In two seperate quotes using the rod is mentioned. I think discipline is important, that raising children is a serious matter, but the thought of Friends advocating physical punishment confuses me.
The piece brings concepts and ideas from other faiths into it, but at the end of the day the word QUAKER is on top, and no matter where the original idea is from, it is still being put under a Quaker name.
