If you take a look at the Six Apart blog entry about the LJ outage, you see a well written, to the point post about the problem.
Compare that to the Livejournal page on the situation. Updated, gives information, sure, and that’s appreciated, but the smilies and the *sighs* and the “C’est la vie” and all that, showcases the differences between the two companies. For something the size of LJ, they still have a pretty casual attitude. And I don’t really know how that makes people feel.
C’est la vie is your reaction when 100+ servers go down? QUEL FROMAGE or something would be more appropriate, n’est-ce pas?
Ok, probably time for me to enter my own little winking emoticon right about now.
I feel for LJ, I really do. This is a big mess.
Slashdot, meanwhile, has all to say about it, how they’d do it if they were running the show. Nothing like reading slashdot on a regular basis to get my eyeballs to roll around, in the most amazing manner. Really, is there ANYTHING slashdot posters don’t know the answer to? At least my SA goons are entertaining.
