…it’s just not worth booting up the computer.
So, picture this.
You go somewhere, and ask someone why X is done. To you, X makes no sense. X seems illogical. Please, for the love of pete, could someone kindly explain X?
So someone explains X. There are actually good reasons for X, and make a lot of sense. So you thank the person for explaining X, thank them, and then do a bit of research on your own.
You do your homework, find out that X not only makes sense, but external factors involved are causing X to behave a certain way, and wouldn’t it be nice to have a discussion about these external factors — perhaps if people were more aware of these external factors, maybe the world would be a better place. Or not. But isn’t it interesting? And hey, sorry again, and wouldn’t you like to see the raw data too, in case other people are misinformed about X and might want more information?
So of course, they come right back at you saying, didn’t we tell you that X was right, and the way to go? How dare you come back here stating X is wrong? Don’t you listen?
No, jerk, YOU apparently don’t listen. I agreed X was right, I apologized for thinking X was wrong, and stupidly thought you were smart enough to discuss the whole general topic, including external factors, and had some interest in the subject.
But since you don’t have the most basic reading skills, and certainly no writing skills to speak of, I was sadly mistaken. Silly me for expecting a grown man to be reasonable and intelligent and polite. Thank you for living up to the stereotype that certain demographics are poorly educated, sexist, and rude. You’re just making it harder for everyone behind you, who is educated, fair, and polite.
And this is why I am posting more here, guys. At least it’s my soapbox. Better than trying to teach a pig to sing.
