Nice article on the American Girl experience. My daughter saved up for about a year to go, made a day of it with my mom, and came home with a doll. Despite my grumbling about the price, it IS rather nice, and their next trip will be to the Cafe and possibly to get her doll’s hair done.
I want to hate these dolls so much, but they have matching books that have good values promoted in them, the dolls themselves come in a variety of looks, so there is a chance a girl can find one that looks just like she does, and they do seem to be well made.
And anything that is a Nana and granddaughter bonding experience is ok by me, and it’s right by all the touristy stuff that is still magical to a little girl. Maybe hurrying past the tree for the thousandth time because you work right there is dull and boring to you, but when you’re younger, it’s still a big trip, and something special.
